I have lived in Perth all my life.
Perth isn't rated as high in comparison to our more tropical neighbour the East Coast, but Perth has it own lil gems that not everyone is aware of.
I am generally poor, so this short list of 10 things I am about to write down are either free, cheap, or possibly discounted for the right person.
Enjoy
1. Snorkeling at the beach
Perth is famous for our weather and coastline.
We have a summer that seems to extend over almost half of the year, and our winter is pitiful in comparison to the rest of the country.
Perth has a lot of beautiful coastline, and a lot of beautiful reefs.
You can snorkel most of the coast along the West Coast Highway, such as Mettams Pool and Waterman's bay.
I would also recommend Rottnest Island for snorkeling and just a fun time in general.
2. Rottnest Island
To get to Rottnest is actually kind of expensive, but well worth it once you have arrived.
If you are going to go, get on the ferry from Fremantle, as it is a shorter distance and also a cheaper price. RAC members can go to Rottnest cheaper, $36 dollars return for a one day fare, not available for trips longer than a day though.
Trips longer than a day is around $60 dollars return.
For more information on Rottnest visit their website here, and to book a ferry ticket visit here
3. Blackwall Reach
Blackwall reach is an awesome cliff that people jump off into the Swan River
It is free, fun and relatively safe as long as you don't act like a fool and you make sure you are jumping from the usual jumping spots (look out for lack of vegetation and footprints, or other people jumping)
There will be signs advising not to jump, as they are trying to protect and maintain the cliff, but signpost are notorious for being no fun.
The address is Blackwall Reach Pde, Bicton
4. Comedy Tuesday at the Brisbane Hotel
One of my favourite Tuesday night activities, Shapiro Comedy night at the Brisbane Hotel.
Doors open at 8pm and show finishes around 10.30/11pm.
$5 entry free and a guarantee that you will laugh at least once.
It fills up pretty quickly so try to get to the Brisbane at 7.30pm, get a drink, play some pool, and be prepared.
5. Bingay at Connections
Recently discovered this gem. Bingo every Thursday at Connections Nightclub in the city.
Hosted by Drag Queens, this is a night you won't want to miss.
Starts at 7.30 goes to about 10.30pm and you need to make a booking!
If you don't like men dressed as ladies, offensive language and butt plugs, then this isn't the place for you.
Free entry, BYO Food and we also were given free pizza and free soft drink!
You also have the chance to win a 7 inch dildo, if you need more persuading.
See the link here
6. Luna Cinemas cheap days.
The Luna cinemas are adorable. Very old school looking.
I am all about the cheap deals so:
Tuesday the Windsor Luna and Cinema Paradiso have cheap tickets
and
Wednesday Luna Leederville and Luna on Sx have cheap tickets.
$9.50 before 6pm and $11.50 after 6pm
(prices vary for 3D features)
7. Annalakshmi Restaurant
This restaurant is fantastic in my opinion. It is all Indian, vegetarian dishes and here's the best part, you pay what you feel.
Most people pay around $10 per plate, but if you are super strapped for cash, you can pay $2 if you want.
I love Indian food, so this place was heaven for me. I'm not a vegetarian myself, but you almost don't even realise there is no meat in the food, as it tastes so good!
Link for the restaurant is here
8. Join a Bowls Club
Want cheap drinks? Join a bowls Club!
You can join most bowls club for around $10-$30 for a year, and once you have signed up with one, you can go to any bowls club in Perth, and get the drink discounts.
I am talking jugs of beer as little as $11, and mixed drinks down to $7.
Get a group together, sign up, play some bowls and drink cheap!
9. Santa Fe Cheap Tuesdays
Santa Fe is an awesome Mexican Restaurant in Subiaco that has a really good cheap Tuesday deal.
$3 tacos
$5 coronas
and half price cocktails between 6pm & 7pm!
Make a booking for 6pm and get all the benefits!

10. Hip Hop Karaoke at the Bird
One Thursday of every month, The Bird in North bridge holds a Hip Hop Karaoke night.
Basically you get up and instead of singing, you rap!
I haven't been myself, but some of my friends have and they rave about it.
Not too sure about the exact dates or the time it starts, so visit their website here, or check them out on facebook.
