Paper Cranes

In some Asian cultures, they believe that the Crane is a near mythical creature, that could live up to 1000 years.
Some people believe if you fold 1000 origami cranes, string them together and hang them up, then you will have one wish granted, or an illness cured. They also say things such as if your dad gives you 1000 paper cranes on your wedding day, you will be blessed with a rich and fulfilling marriage.

Even though it is said to be silly to believe in wishes, I personally think that if someone feels better by making a wish, then go for it. I guess you just can't have unrealistic expectations eg. "I wish I could eat cake everyday and never exercise but never put on weight", or "I wish to pass uni with flying colours" but then never study.

There is even a site called 1000 Cranes of Hope where people can wish and make a donation, and the proceeds go to cancer research...which could then help some people's wishes come true.

I think I will probably attempt this over my life.
